Más tarde, agregando el drama nocturno, tanto Iyer Iyer como el capitán de Mi, Hardik Pandya
Punjab Kings (PBKS) sealed their spot in the IPL 2025 final after 11 years with a five-wicket win over Mumbai Indians (MI), but the post-match scenes were as interesting. Captain Shreyas Iyer, who starred in the chase with a stunning unbeaten 87 off just 41 balls, didn’t hold back his emotions after hitting the winning six at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Watch: Angry Shreyas Iyer against Shashank Singh
Just as celebrations began, Iyer was seen having a heated exchange with teammate Shashank Singh, who had been run out for 2 in the 17th over. The moment was unnecessary, and it briefly tilted the pressure back on PBKS. The entire game was built on Iyer’s back; it didn’t help him that Shashank, being a specialist finisher, gifted his wicket.
Television cameras caught Iyer walking straight up to Shashank, pointing fingers and mouthing angry words, clearly frustrated by the lapse in judgement that nearly cost them their chase.
Shashank’s dismissal was avoidable. It was a lazy piece of running that stood out in an otherwise sharp chase. Facing a low full toss from Trent Boult, he drove to mid-on, where Hardik Pandya swooped in, gathered, and fired in a direct hit. Shashank, initially jogging, failed to dive and was caught short by a whisker. With this being a knockout game, such casualness isn’t what you expect, and Shreyas Iyer let his intentions be known as well.
