Manoj Tiwarry fue elegido que Rohit Sharma había sido retirado mientras jugaba no en las redes sociales

Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary has claimed that it would have been more apt for Rohit Sharma to retire on the field. The Hitman took everyone by surprise by abruptly deciding to call it a day from Tests just before the England series. Having already retired from T20Is in 2024, ODIs are the only format in which Rohit will now be active in.

Tiwary reckons Rohit should have retired on field

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Tiwary opined that Sharma retiring on field would have been a fitting send-off for the veteran. He added that such a move, instead of doing so on social media, would have been better for both the Hitman and for the fans.

If Rohit Sharma had retired not on social media but on the field after playing, it would have been a more fitting send-off. It would’ve felt better for all of us, too,” Tiwary said.

Sharma retires from Test cricket

Until very recently, Rohit had no desire to leave Test cricket. During the Indian Premier League (IPL), he had expressed willingness to lead Team India against England in the upcoming Test series. However, it seems like the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) aren’t too keen on him continuing as India’s Test captain.

“Hello everyone I would just like to share that I am retiring from Test cricket. It’s been an absolute honour to represent my country in whites. Thank you for all the love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in the ODI format,” Rohit wrote online.
