Ha habido muchas fichas en las calles de Bangalore, siga el título de RCB Win, con fanáticos brillantes fuera de los cuadrados de Chinawamy.
Things are not looking great for RCB, despite winning their maiden IPL trophy, just a couple of days back in Ahmedabad. A stampede at the Chinnaswamy Stadium has claimed 11 lives, bringing the role of the team’s management to the forefront — to have a victory celebration hours after the final.
The news for the celebration was everywhere, and lakhs from all over the country came to the venue, just to get a glimpse of their favorite stars, until it turned messy. While there were plans to organise an open bas parade for the triumph, the team was discouraged to do so. In fact, messages were sent on social media by the police, to be organsied.
Amidst all this, as it turns out, RCB was told to hold the procession on Sunday, but the franchise argued, that they won’t have the foreign players then. “We tried to discourage the government as well as the RCB franchise from Tuesday night against having any celebrations on Wednesday. We told them it would be ill-advised and recommended holding the event next Sunday when emotions would have cooled down,” the report quoted a police official as saying.
“We told them not to take out any procession, but to hold it in one place in an organised manner. Bring the players to the stadium and finish it there,” said the officer further. “Their argument was that the players, especially the foreigners, would leave today or tomorrow,” he said.
Now, after this grave mistake, RCB has come forward with a statement, offering a sum of INR 10 lakh to the family members of the deceased. In an official statement, the team said, “The unfortunate incident in Bengaluru yesterday has caused a lot of anguish and pain to the RCB family. As a mark of respect and a gesture of solidarity, RCB has announced a financial support of INR 10 lakh to each of the eleven families of the deceased. In addition, a fund called RCB Cares is also being created to support fans injured in this tragic incident.
Our fans will always remain at the heart of everything that we do. We remain united in grief.”
