When the entire nation is grieving the loss of precious lives in a terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, the BCCI decided to pay a special tribute to the victims. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) began with a one-minute silence for the deceased.

That is not it. Players sported black armbands to show their solidarity with the people who lost their lives in the ghastly attack. Like is the norm before every IPL match, there were no fireworks fireworks, and also no cheerleaders witnessed on Wednesday. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia had said, “The cricketing community is deeply shocked and anguished by the tragic loss of innocent lives in the gruesome terror attack at Pahalgam yesterday.”
“On behalf of the BCCI, while condemning this ghastly and cowardly act with strongest possible words, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the departed souls. In sharing their pain and grief, we stand hand in hand at this hour of tragedy,” he added.
SRH and MI captains expressed their grief
SRH captain and MI captain too came forward and offered their condolences to the families of the deceased. SRH skipper Pat Cummins made it clear, that it was heartbreaking for him as well as the team. “It has been heartbreaking for us as well, our thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
Meanwhile, MI skipper Hardik Pandya had a special message for the affected. “I would like to pass my condolences to the victims of the terrorist attack,” the all-rounder said.
