Rohit Sharma buscó buenos espíritus cuando volvió a entrenar con los indios de Manabal para IPL 2025, después de dejar su trabajo.

After retiring from Test cricket on May 7, Rohit Sharma is gearing up for his first cricket game with the Mumbai Indians. The IPL has since been halted given the India-Pakistan conflict. Now, with the league set to resume on May 17, Rohit is training with the MI squad at his home ground Wankhede.

Rohit gears up for IPL return

Rohit Sharma was all smiles as Mumbai Indians resumed their training with the IPL 2025 all set to return. The five-time champions remain in contention for a playoff spot and put in the hard yards at the Wankhede. Rohit Sharma looked in good spirits having retired from Test cricket a week ago. It was his first training session since the announcement that shook Indian cricket.

Rohit Sharma looked in great touch in the nets and batted alongside Tilak Varma. The 37-year-old faced both pace and spin in what seemed a long session, aiming to be at his best.

Rohit has a middling season so far, scoring 300 runs in 11 innings in IPL 2025. After a slow start to the season, the Hit-Man has hit a purple patch, with 3 50s in his last 5 games. Mumbai Indians are chasing a spot in the playoffs, and Rohit returning to form would go a long way in helping their chances.

The veteran has formed a good opening partnership with Ryan Rickelton at the top of the order. However, the left-hander could leave the tournament midway with South Africa set to play in the World Test Championship. In that case, the onus will be on Rohit to set the tempo and get runs at the top.

Having retired from Tests and T20Is, the IPL is Rohit’s best chance at regaining fitness. The 37-year-old is still the captain in ODIs and is eyeing the 2027 World Cup in South Africa.
