India A bowlers had a day to forget as England Lions snatched back the advantage in the India A vs England Lions 2nd Unofficial Test. India’s lower order resistance was short lived as they folded for 348. The hosts in response scored 192/3 before bad light forced an early stumps on day 2.
India A vs England Lions: Day to forget for bowlers
India resumed their innings at 319/7 after being put into bat. Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande chipped in with a few but the visitors were all out for 348. India A lost their last 7 wickets for 101 runs, in what was a disappointing collapse.
In response, England Lions put on a spirited display. Kamboj got McKinney early but Tom Haines and Emilio Gay put on a fight back. The duo picked off some easy boundaries to put the hosts in front.
Both Haines and Gay smashed their respective half-centuries to knock on the selection door. Their 94-run stand was broken eventually by Tushar Deshpande. Gay soon followed him to pavilion with Tanush Kotian trapping him in front.
India A seemed to be getting into rhythm before bad light stopped play. Stumps were eventually taken,with the Lions trailing by 156.
Worrying signs for India?
Barring Anshul Kamboj, India’s attack cut a sorry picture. Shardul Thakur and Nitish Reddy both struggled, bowling a mere 6 overs apiece for no wickets. Either of the duo are set to play the 1st Test and their lack of bowling and effectiveness should worry captain Shubman Gill.
