Bavuma had suffered an elbow injury 2 months before the WTC Final 2025 but made a recovery in time. His efforts on Friday reminded of Graeme Smith, who batted with a fractured hand in 2012. Bavuma, despite the danger of further aggravating the injury, piled on the misery on the Australian attack.

Markram-Bavuma put South Africa in touching distance

Chasing 282, South Africa are now in the drivers’ seat thanks to a stellar partnership between Markram and Bavuma. The duo put on a century stand, with both players reaching their half-century. It was the highest partnership of the WTC Final 2025, putting the Proteas within a 100 runs of the target.
