ECB vs BCCCI! El Overton de CSK no regresará, RCB

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will recall their players before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Playoffs begin on May 29. Due to tension between India and Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had to halt the tournament for 9 days.

As per the revised schedule, the IPL 2025 will resume on May 17 and run until June 3. However, this doesn’t work well for the ECB. They have granted NOCs (no objection certificates) to their players until May 25, the original date of the IPL 2025 Final. That was because, from May 29, England will face the West Indies in a white-ball series (3 T20Is and 3 ODIs).

Jofra Archer will return for IPL 2025

According to The Telegraph, the ECB will recall Jacob Bethell, Will Jacks, Phil Salt, and Jos Buttler by May 27. Jofra Archer will return as his stint with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) will end by May 20, while Jamie Overton, who is playing for the knocked-out Chennai Super Kings (CSK), won’t return to India for the remainder of the IPL 2025.

RCB, MI & GT’s chances of winning IPL trophy, take a hit

This throws a major wrench in Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI), and Gujarat Titans’ (GT) plans. RCB has two players in Salt and Bethell. The former was injured, and the latter came in his replacement into the XI. Both have opened with Virat Kohli, and losing them would be a major issue if they leave after RCB’s last group stage match on May 27.

Buttler hasn’t just been the best batter for GT but in the IPL 2025. Without him, Gujarat would lose their balance and might not be able to win their second IPL trophy. But he might have to leave after their final group stage match on May 25. Jacks hasn’t been as integral to MI compared to Buttler, but he’s played 11 of their 12 matches. He’ll most likely leave after facing Punjab Kings on May 26.
