Temporary replacements in IPL 2025

The BCCI has allowed IPL franchises to bring in temporary replacements for the remainder of the 2025 season. The change has come about because players like Jofra Archer, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Craig Overton, and Sam Curran decided that they wouldn’t return to India. These replacements can’t be retained for the next season.

Bumrah over Gill as India Test captain

Former chief selector and World Cup winner Kris Srikkanth thinks that Shubman Gill shouldn’t be announced as India’s Test captain. He reasons that Gill hasn’t yet solidified his place in the team, so how can he be named skipper? He suggests Jasprit Bumrah’s name as the top contender, and if not him, then either KL Rahul or Pant.
