Before the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faced the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), a bombshell news dropped. Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Kagiso Rabada was suspended. It was confirmed that he won’t play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Sunil Gavaskar labelled RCB as title favourites and thinks that Pakistan may not play in the Asia Cup 2025.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) aren’t that bothered about Mohammed Shami’s performance in IPL 2025, before the India vs England Test series. Coming to the RCB vs CSK match, Josh Hazlewood didn’t play. And Ayush Mhatre nearly joined Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

Kagiso Rabada fails drug test

Kagiso Rabada has been provisionally suspended. The GT pacer tested positive for a banned substance during the SA20 earlier in the year, and it is now that he’s been charged. Rabada has been found guilty of using a recreational drug and won’t take further part in the IPL 2025 season.

Shami still in India vs England Tests plans

The BCCI isn’t doubting Shami. The pacer has been getting thrashed in the IPL 2025. Less than a month ago, he was hit for 75 runs in 4 overs. Shami has taken 6 wickets in 9 matches at 56.16 and is going at 11.23 runs per over. A BCCI source told InsideSport that Shami remains in plans for the India vs England Tests. Just like Rohit Sharma has returned to form in IPL 2025, they expect the pacer to bounce back.

No Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025?

Pakistan may not play in the Asia Cup 2025. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar thinks the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) could be disbanded due to the current political tension between India and Pakistan. Currently, the tournament is an 8-team event. But that could change, as per Gavaskar.

Ayush Mhatre almost does a Vaibhav Suryavanshi

IPL 2025 has been incredible. On April 28, Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest IPL and T20 centurion in history, and less than a week later, Ayush Mhatre almost became the second youngest. The CSK opener fell just 6 runs short of his maiden IPL century and joined Suryavanshi’s historic feat.

Josh Hazlewood injured or being saved for WTC Final?

Josh Hazlewood didn’t play against CSK. Why? No one really specified. But RCB’s best pacer had to sit out. It’s reported that he has a shoulder niggle, but RCB haven’t stated so themselves. Therefore, one asks, did Hazlewood not play to ensure his workload was managed for the WTC Final 2025?

RCB favourites to win IPL 2025, says Gavaskar

Even before RCB beat CSK, Sunil Gavaskar had them as favourites to win their maiden IPL title. They have been the best side of the 2025 tournament and have lost just 3 of their 11 matches. Although 3 group stage games remain, for Gavaskar they will qualify for the playoffs and are the favourites to win the IPL 2025 title.
