The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the match officials for the highly anticipated ICC World Test Championship Final 2025, to be held at Lord’s from 11 to 15 June. Among the selected officials, two seasoned Indians—Javagal Srinath and Nitin Menon—will play key roles in overseeing the clash between Australia and South Africa.

Role Official Country
Match Referee Javagal Srinath India
On-field Umpire 1 Richard Illingworth England
On-field Umpire 2 Chris Gaffaney New Zealand
TV Umpire Richard Kettleborough England

Veteran match referee Javagal Srinath will oversee proceedings in the final, bringing a wealth of experience to the ultimate Test. Srinath has regularly officiated high-stakes ICC events since 2006. In total, he has officiated as a referee across 79 Tests so far, and the WTC Final 2025 will be his 80th Test.

Joining him will be Nitin Menon, who has been appointed as the fourth umpire for the match. This marks Menon’s debut as an on-ground official in a World Test Championship Final, although he previously served as the TV umpire in the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Final.

Gaffaney and Illingworth return as On-Field Umpires

The all-important on-field umpiring responsibilities will be carried out by Chris Gaffaney of New Zealand and Richard Illingworth of England, both of whom bring a wealth of experience to the biggest stage in Test cricket.

Illingworth continues his historic run as the only umpire to officiate on the field in all three World Test Championship Finals—2021, 2023, and now 2025. He is a four-time winner of the ICC’s David Shepherd Trophy for Umpire of the Year.

Gaffaney, who partnered with Illingworth in the WTC 2023 Final and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Final in England, meaning we will have an experienced pairing for marquee events at Lord’s.

Richard Kettleborough of England will serve as the TV umpire, reprising his role from the 2021 WTC Final between India and New Zealand. Kettleborough is another high-profile name known for officiating in major ICC event finals, including World Cups and Champions Trophies.
