From launching Kamindu Mendis straight down the ground to clearing extra cover with Harshal Patel’s slower balls, the 21-year-old South African seemed in total control, lifting CSK past the 100-run mark in the 12th over.
The turning point came in the 12th over, where Brevis hit three sixes in the space of five balls, including a monstrous slap over extra cover that had fans on their feet.

Just as Brevis seemed poised to take the game away, Kamindu Mendis produced a moment of magic that halted the charge. Positioned at long-off, Mendis pulled off a stunning diving catch to his left, plucking a rocket flat-batted shot that looked destined for six. The dismissal off Harshal Patel’s delivery drew gasps from the crowd and shifted the game’s tempo once again.
