Dewald Brevis makes his debut for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as MS Dhoni made two changes to the line-up for the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Dhoni dropped Rachin Ravindra, Jamie Overton and Vijay Shankar from the line-up. Deepak Hooda and Sam Curran are also making a return. Brevis, who went unsold at the IPL Auction in December, only joined CSK as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh.

‘Baby AB’ Dewald Brevis makes CSK debut
With Chennai Super Kings entering must-win territory, MS Dhoni roped in Dewald Brevis to the lineup for the CSK vs SRH game on Friday. He is known as Baby AB for his likeness to AB de Villiers’ playing style. The Proteas ace previously featured for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
Dewald Brevis adds much-needed explosiveness to CSK’s lineup, which has been guilty of making sedate starts. The 22-year-old will slot into the middle order, likely to bat at No.4. The young South African is known for his six-hitting in T20 leagues around the globe. He will add firepower to a desperate Chennai Super Kings. His overall T20 strike-rate is a staggering 144.93. His ability to find boundaries at regular intervals will be key to MS’ plans.

Dhoni rings in the changes
To accommodate Brevis, Dhoni dropped Rachin Ravindra from the XI. The Kiwi opener scored a half-century in the first game of IPL 2025 but has since struggled to make sizeable contributions. Jamie Overton and Vijay Shankar also made way after making little impact in CSK’s campaign. Hooda and Curran, who were dropped earlier, return as CSK aim to resurrect their IPL 2025 campaign.
