Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana has opted out of the Pakistan vs Bangladesh series starting next week. Rana featured in the PSL 2025 but was left ‘traumatised’ after the escalations on the India-Pakistan border. Fielding coach James Pamment and strength and conditioning coach Nathan Keily will also not be part of the touring party.

Nahid Rana was part of the Peshawar Zalmi squad when the PSL 2025 was halted due to cross border tensions. Rana and rest of the Zalmi squad had difficulty in leaving Pakistan amid growing tensions, leaving a huge impact on everyone involved.

Fahim revealed that several other players were hesitant to tour, but pulled through after most of the squad had made the trip to Pakistan. Rishad Hossain, who was also part of PSL 2025, is part of the squad in the Pakistan vs Bangladesh series. The tour was originally a five-game series, but was reduced to just 3 T20Is.
During the PSL 2025, tensions between India and Pakistan rose with both IPL and PSL being halted. The Pakistan airspace was closed while a drone strike took place near the Rawalpindi cricket stadium. Peshawar Zalmi, Nahid’s team, were due to play later that day. Despite the reservations, BCB received assurances from the PCB regarding security arrangements.
“I saw during the Champions Trophy how much security is provided in Pakistan. I don’t think you can do more than that. The PCB chairman (Mohsin Naqvi) assured us to give the highest security,” Fahim added.
