Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Ab de Villiers has revealed that he has been prohibted from using “ee saala cup namde” by Virat Kohli. RCB made it to the IPL 2025 final after beating PBKS in Qualifier 1, ending a 9-year-long wait. de Villiers is rooting for RCB to bring home their maiden trophy.

Speaking on an ESPNCricinfo show, de Villiers said that he tuly believes RCB will lift the trophy this season despite him being barred by Kohli to use the team’s motto.
“The time has come. RCB is going all the way. I am not allowed to say the Bengaluru terms (Ee Saala Cup Naam De) because of Virat (Kohli). He told me that I am not allowed to say that anymore, but I truly believe we are going all the way this season. So stay tuned, buckle up and enjoy the ride,” de Villiers said.
RCB have been exceptional in this season, and won all their away games to script a new record in IPL. de Villiers, who was a part of RCB from 2011 to 2021, couldn’t help the side lift the trophy even once, despite his stellar performances. He will be in attendance for the final in Ahmedabad on June 3.
What happened in PBKS vs RCB, Qualifier 1?
PBKS were bowled out for just 101 with Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma bagging three wickets each. Marcus Stoinis top-scored with 26, but PBKS fell like ten pins in 14.1 overs. Suyash returned with 3/17 in 3 overs while Hazlewood bagged 3/21 in 3.1 overs. Phil Salt’s 50 ensured RCB chased down the target in only 10 overs. Mayank Agarwal went on to score 19, while Virat Kohli 12, as RCB entered their first final since 2016.
