Their immense popularity can be attributed to their stellar performance in the IPL, having secured five IPL trophies in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023. Another significant factor contributing to their massive fanbase is the legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has been with the team since the inception of the IPL.
Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians rank just behind CSK in terms of fanbase size on social media. They have also secured five IPL trophies, winning in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. The presence of star cricketers like Rohit Sharma and Sachin Tendulkar earlier on greatly contributed to building their massive fanbase. The golden period for the team spanned from 2013 to 2020, during which they won five out of eight IPL seasons. However, in recent years, the team has struggled to reclaim the top spot.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru boasts the third-largest fanbase in the IPL. RCB fans are among the most loyal in the league, steadfastly supporting the team despite its lack of IPL trophies. Virat Kohli’s global following significantly contributes to the team’s vast and dedicated fanbase. RCB has made it to the finals three times, in 2009, 2011, and 2016.
