Everyone shouldn’t perhaps jump on the Vaibhav Suryavanshi hype train. He has shown incredible promise. But not much should be expected from him. His game isn’t formed yet. We saw the issues he had against short-pitch balls against the Rajasthan Royals. His feet movement wasn’t great either.

Out of his depth

But against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), we saw just how much the 14-year-old has to improve. He couldn’t get to the top of the bounce. Short balls from Bhuvneshwar, who isn’t known for short-pitch bowling, were something that troubled him. And his thinking in the middle wasn’t great either.

Vaibhav seemed to be hellbent on hitting every ball out of the park. Where it pitched didn’t matter, it seemed. He was hoicked every ball. In his short 12-ball stay, he miscued the ball in the air 6 times. Even the 2 sixes he hit off Bhuvneshwar weren’t convincing. The first was somewhat timed well, but he was in no condition to go through that shot. The second one was a top edge.
