Gautam Gambhir has refuted talks of his future after a rocky start to his reign as India coach. While the Men in Blue did win the Champions Trophy, they lost at home to New Zealand and conceded the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Now with the India vs England series on the horizon, Gambhir has diverted the talk.

Always under pressure, focused on results: Gambhir ahead of IND vs ENG Tests

Gautam Gambhir has quashed talk of his position by suggesting as a coach he’s always under pressure. The India vs England series is a pivotal point for Gambhir, having lost the last two Tests series handsomely.

The India head coach however added that while it is a results business, the downturn in form hasn’t affected him.

“I am always under pressure, irrespective of whether we have the results or not. If you had asked me this question after the New Zealand series, I would have said the same. After the Australia tour, I would have said the same. After the Champions Trophy, I would have said the same,” Gambhir said at the press conference.

However,Gambhir warned that he was always chasing results while representing the country. The England series will be no different.

“Me being the coach, I always want results. Every game you play for your country, you want to win, and so you are under pressure. I am under exactly the same pressure,” he added.
