En las últimas 5 veces de IPL, 2055 fue testigo de la peor cuando se trata de operación.
Fielding hasn’t been of the highest quality in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Neither catching nor ground fielding has been exemplary. We aren’t even seeing those specular grabs either. And at this point, everyone has heard, catches win matches.
And it’s a coincidence that teams that have dropped the most catches have lost the most matches. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are dropping at least 3 catches for every 7 they are taking. And they are two of the three bottom teams on the IPL 2025 points table.
Worst catching efficiency in IPL 2025
CSK – 64.3%
RR – 70 %
DC – 71.4 %
LSG – 73.9%
GT – 77.4%

RR’s poor fielding display vs RCB
Against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the same sloppy effort was on show by RR. A total of four catches were taken by the Riyan Parag-led team, but they dropped 2 chances. And the RR captain was to blame himself, who dropped a straightforward chance in the second over of the match.
In the 13th over, Tushar Deshpande also dropped a catch, giving Devdutt Paddikal a chance. At some point, one has to wonder, how much has RR’s poor fielding cost them? Since the two news teams were introduced in the IPL, the 2025 season has been the worst one for the inaugural champions when it comes to fielding.
Drastic drop in fielding
RR’s catching efficiency has dropped by 15.66% when compared to last year. Mind you, they qualified for the IPL Playoffs last year. After the auction, many teams haven’t stepped on their feet. Batting and bowling have caused issues for many sides, and RR is one of them.
But fielding is in their hands. And they have let themself down. They have lost a couple of close games as well. The question is, if they had seized some of these chances, would they have been in a better place? We’ll never know this. But taking catches in general is a great sign for any team. Great teams, like New Zealand, can even change matches on the basis of their fielding alone.
