Former Chennai Super Kings batter Ambati Rayudu slammed LSG captain Rishabh Pant for his baffling decision to bat at number 7 in the game against DC. The southpaw managed to survive just a couple of deliveries before he was sent packing by Mukesh Kumar for a duck. Following LSG’s 8-wicket defeat, Rayudu pulled up Pant for his lack of accountability and unwise decision making as captain.

“Pant needs to take onus on himself”

Speaking on Kuhl Fans Match Centre, Rayudu stressed on the need for Pant to be a part of decision making in LSG, adding that he needs to take the onus on himself. The ex-Indian cricketer pointed out that the LSG skipper had to bat up the order and should have led from the front by scoring boundaries when the team needed him to do so.

“I feel Pant really needs to take the onus on himself. He really needs to take the decisions on his own. You want everything to be said indoors. And also you don’t want any dirty laundry to be washed outside. Pant really needs to take the control of the decisions that are being made at LSG,” Rayudu said.

Further, Rayudu suggested LSG to make some drastic changes to their approach in order to return to winning ways. He noted that Pant needs to stop giving excuses and step up as the captain of LSG.

“He needs to come up the order. He cannot give any more excuses. He is the captain. And it is a captain’s sport. We all acknowledge that. Going forward, they need to make a few changes: maybe get Mayank Yadav in. Also Rishabh Pant has to be batting slightly higher,” Rayudu said.
