Ajit Agrikar reveló que Virat Kohli había notificado a los platos por su resolución en abril

India cricket team chief selector Ajit Agarkar spilled the beans on Virat Kohli’s abrupt decision to retire from Tests. Following the footsteps of Rohit Sharma, the former Indian captain took everyone by surprise by bringing the curtains down on his 14-year-long Test career. Agarkar broke the silence on Kohli’s decision and revealed that he was informed about it nearly a month ago.

“It was time for him”

Speaking at a press conference, Agarkar revealed that Kohli ha reached out to the selectors in April and had informed them about his decision to retire from Tests. He said that Virat no longer felt he could keep up with the standards of the game and hence decided that it was time for him to move on.

Virat reached out early April & said he had made up his mind (to retire from Test cricket),” Agarkar said during the press conference.

Kohli had been contemplating his future in Test cricket since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The veteran batter had a rather miserable series, managing to score just 190 runs in 9 innings, averaging 23.75. His problem with playing outside the off deliveries led to him being dismissed in that fashion 8 out of 9 times.

Following the series, Kohli had revealed that the Bordet-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 could very well have been his last tour to Australia.

Kohli made his Test debut back in 2011 and has amassed 9230 runs from 123 matches. He averages 46.85 in the longest format of the game.

Taking to social media platform, Kohli penned a note announcing his decision to step away from Tests.
