Después de Corbin Bosch, Star ya es Pesarwar Zalmi dejó a PSL para jugar con IPL 2025.

In the aftermath of the India-Pakistan conflict, the IPL 2025 and PSL are all set to clash once again. Both tournaments were running simultaneously, but had to be halted due to tensions at the border. The scheduling clash meant that players have to pick one over the other, with Corbin Bosch having done so. Now, reportedly, Mitchell Owen will join Punjab Kings, exiting the Peshawar Zalmi.

Mitchell Owen snubs PSL for IPL 2025

Mitchell Owen has been part of the Peshawar Zalmi set up for the 2025 season. The 23-year-old played 8 games, scoring just 102 runs at a strike rate of 192.45. Owen was since picked up by Punjab Kings as a replacement for Glenn Maxwell, who was ruled out of IPL 2025.

The arrangement was such that the Australian would link up with the IPL team following the end of the PSL. Owen was scheduled to finish his PSL assignment on May 18 and then link up with Punjab Kings for the final phase of the season. However, cross-border tensions meant that both leagues were halted. Both IPL and PSL are set to resume on May 17, and Owen is reportedly favouring a stint with the Punjab Kings over one with Peshawar Zalmi. Both teams are in contention for the playoffs in their respective leagues.

Owen’s case resembles that of Corbin Bosch, who was served a one year ban for skipping the PSL for an IPL deal. The South African was part of the Peshawar Zalmi set up after being picked in the draft. However, he was signed as a replacement for Lizaad Williams for the Mumbai Indians. Given a choice, Bosch skipped the PSL in favour of the IPL.

In 35 T20s, Mitchell Owen has scored 647 runs at a strike rate of 183.80. He has hit 2 centuries, including one in the BBL final. Owen’s availability is a boost to Punjab Kings, who are set to lose Marco Jansen due to national commitments.
