Despite security concerns, the Delhi Capitals squad seemed to be at ease in Dharamsala. Due to the escalation in the India-Pakistan conflict, the clash between DC and Punjab Kings was abandoned midway on Thursday. BCCI then arranged a special Vande Bharat express for all personnel to leave the hill-clad city.

KL Rahul, DC stars take a break after IPL suspension

Following an attempted drone strike in Jammu, the PBKS vs DC game was called off in Dharamsala. With the venue being 200km away, players and fans were evacuated on Thursday.

On Friday morning, Delhi Capitals players enjoyed a break from play. The likes of KL Rahul and others posed with fans for selfies while taking a dip in a nearby stream. The players seemed relaxed with no worry of a security threat. Faf du Plessis, Tristan Stubbs were also among the DC players present, enjoying the weather and Himachal’s natural beauty.

The Delhi squad, along with Punjab Kings, then hopped on the Vande Bharat Express from near Dharamsala. With the airspace closed down, the BCCI had assured everyone involved when they called off the match that they’d transport them out of Dharamshala safely. The Indian Cricket Board then arranged a special train per the railway ministry to transport the players and the other staff. The travelling also included commentators, support staff, cameramen, and crew who travelled to Himachal for the game.

BCCI assures players safety, tournament suspended for a week

With the ever-escalating border conflict between India and Pakistan, the decision to postpone the tournament for a week was taken. As per the BCCI advisory, franchises were asked to disburse immediately. A decision on the tournament to be taken on a later date. It came in response after cricket boards in England, Australia, the West Indies, and South Africa had expressed concerns regarding player safety. BCCI assured the same, even assisting with the logistics of the same. Teams have already disbursed starting Friday, with CSK’s Ravindra Jadeja and Urvil Patel on their way home.
